Luke Schnieber Climbs the Pole Vaulting National Rankings
After a record setting 2025 season, Luke Schnieber '27 is continuing to dominate the pole-vaulting scene this winter. Last year, Luke set the school and OHSAA D3 record with a 16'7" vault at the OHSAA D3 Regional meet last May. He placed 3rd at the State finals with a vault of 15'10". After climbing up the state rankings last spring, he is now breaking national rankings.
On January 24, Luke competed in a Ohio State High School Qualifier in Columbus, where he recorded a 16'7" vault – a new indoor personal record and a match to his outdoor PR from the OHSAA D3 Regional meet.
His 16'7" vault earned him the best jump in Ohio and the 12th best in the nation.
He was invited to compete at the 118th Millrose Games in New York City on January 30 at Nike's Amory Track and Field Center. The Millrose Games is the oldest indoor track meeting in the world, hosting Olympians, collegiate, high school, and youth athletes. Luke competed against 10 vaulters, including the top 4 in the country, all who finished in front of him as he placed 5th at the event with a 16'0.75" vault.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any sweeter, he's continued to exceed expectations and smash his own records. Luke won his fourth Mount St. Joseph high school indoor track meet on 2/20. He recorded a 16'10" vault, another PR and the 8th best vault in the nation.
Luke gears up for the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Indoor Track and Field meet on March 7 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. He sits as the top seed in Ohio for the event.
Luke has had an incredible start to what looks to be another record setting year for the junior pole vaulter.
